Anatomy of an Article Resource Box

The internet is the information highway, this phrase has been used so may times it should be nominated for the Internet Cliché Award. Hence, the reality of the need to provide quality content, not just a site filled with products, but one that also fulfill the basic needs of the average internet surfer. Useful Information! The wave of doing business online has changed quite a bit since its onset. Ecommerce doesn't necessarily mean having a website for selling products these days. People who logon to the internet are divided into groups, but generally, they are out to search information. Whether for gaming, business, fun or anything else the internet has provided us with information that has proved to be very beneficial. The majority of internet users who search to find information will use is a search engine.

This being the case webmasters and developers alike relentlessly learned the secrets of Search Engine Optimization. More and more sites have seen the effects articles have done for the traffic of their sites. Some have even created sites devoted entirely to providing articles that could be read by their website visitors and have links that could lead to many sites that are related to the topics and subjects of the articles. Creating articles for niche businesses has become very lucrative. Whether you submit articles to Article Directories or create your own, it is essential that you know how to create a resource box that will make the reader click on the links provided.

As a website visitor reads the article, they'll find at the end of the article a resource box of the author who has submitted the article. Of course the article would be in relation to the author's website.

But like the article itself, the resource box must also be eye-catching to demand the attention and interest of the reader. While the resource bow encompasses only a small space, providing the right keywords and content for your resource box will provide more prodding for the reader to go to your site. Now, of course in order for the reader to click on that link, the article itself should be well written.

So what would be a good content for your resource box? Basically the resource box should contain your name, a brief description of your site with main targeted keywords. These keywords serves as an anchor, meaning that your keywords should be hyperlinked to your website. This is where many article authors mess up. They seem to think that creating a hyperlink with their website url is good enough. Wrong! Keywords, keywords, that's the ticket to help your search engine ranking. If you create hyperlinks to an existing article on your website with the chosen text to be used for that hyperlink, you've created a good linkback to your website with the appropriate keywords. You can create a hyperlink to your main webpage, creatively speaking without having to use the name of the site itself as the text.

Wait that didn't make sense? Or did it? Okay, Say your site is titled Crafting by Susie. If one of your targeted keywords is "Crafting" then you would create a hyperlink to your main page using that text. However, if your site name is "Creations by Susie" which has nothing to do with the content of your site which is crafting. You can elaborate a little more by adding some keywords to your site title which will be used as the hyperlink text. For example Arts & Crafts Creations by Susie. In this case the words "Arts & Crafts" can be the anchor text used.

Resource boxes can also make use of all the creativity it can get. You only get a small space for your resource box so you better make the most of it. Try to catch the attention of your reader with resource box content that can make them give a second look. Unlike TV ads, you don’t have visual aids to drive your point in. But you do have the power of imagination of a reader. With the right content, you can make them think and intrigued.

Here's a Sample Resource Box:

Author Bio:
Susie Que, is the owner of Arts & Crafts Creations by Susie. Susie, loves crafting and provides many free craft projects as well as craft articles on her website. Need affordable craft supplies, visit Susie's Craft Store!

Target Keywords that will be linked:
Arts & Crafts - can be linked to main website i.e. index.php
crafting - can be linked to a craft category
craft projects - can be linked to the craft directory
craft articles - can be linked to the article directory
craft supplies - can be linked to the shop's craft supply category
Craft Store - can be linked to the main landing page of the craft shop

Count the targeted keywords provided in the short write up for the resource box. That's a total of 6 keyword rich backlinks to specific pages on this fictitious website.

You will write in a third person view. A little intimidating at first, but once you come up with a keyword rich author resource you have accomplished what many haven't. Backlinks to your site with links created using your targeted keywords.

Make certain that you use keywords that is directly related to your site content. Do not mislead website visitors. Build your credibility so that more people will want to visit your site and browse what you have to offer. Make the people click your resource box by providing a resource box content that makes a lasting impression. You only get one chance to wow them and hundreds of chances to repulse them.

Never underestimate the power of the resource box. It may be small in size but they will provide a significant aid in driving traffic to your site. A boring resource box will never get a job done. Be fun and creative but at the same time show that you have a great deal to offer. Take the time to write a good resource box. It will pay off in a big way in the long run.

Anyone who reproduces your article will create a generation of backlinks, which helps improve your search engine ranking if it was written well.

An Author's Resource Box can be a very powerful tool. Write it well and you will reap the benefits!
